A New York Christmas tree trip can mean walking through hillside rows in the Hudson Valley, visiting a farm near the Finger Lakes or Rochester, or finding a tree on Long Island. Growers also work in central and northern New York. The Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York’s farm locator is a useful starting point for exploring the state’s growing areas. This checked list covers several of those regions, although far-northern and Adirondack coverage remains limited.
Fraser fir, balsam fir, Canaan fir and concolor fir appear among the farms below, alongside Douglas fir, pines and several spruces. The mix varies by farm and field, so check the farm’s own inventory if you have a particular tree in mind. Some growers also sell trees they have cut from their own fields, giving families another way to bring home a farm-grown tree.
Many farms begin selling around Thanksgiving; some open the preceding weekend. Others sell only on selected days or require advance reservations.
Measure your room first, allowing for the stand and topper. Bring gloves, a measuring tape and sturdy boots, and check the latest opening notice before leaving home. A posted closing date does not guarantee trees will remain until then.
Use your location or a ZIP code. Nothing is stored.
Each tree is a farm, placed by its ZIP code, so it shows the area rather than the gate. Select one to jump to it.
