A New Jersey Christmas tree trip can take you into the hills of Sussex and Warren counties, through Hunterdon’s country lanes, or across central Jersey toward the farms of Gloucester and Atlantic counties. This guide includes growers from the northwest to South Jersey, though choices are thinner in the southernmost counties. Douglas fir, Canaan fir, concolor fir, blue spruce and Norway spruce appear in local fields. Availability and tree heights vary by farm and season.
Many growers begin cutting around Thanksgiving, while some open earlier or welcome visitors on only a few weekends. Early tagging may reserve a standing tree for later pickup, so confirm when cutting starts. Ask about appointments, tickets, payment methods, pet rules and remaining field stock.
Measure your ceiling and the space around the stand, leaving room for the topper. Bring warm layers, gloves and sturdy boots, and check whether the farm supplies saws or has staff cut your selection. Plan how to secure the tree for the drive home and keep its stand watered once indoors. The New Jersey Christmas Tree Growers Association offers a county-by-county farm finder. Use our Christmas tree planner to organize your measurements and visit.
