Best Destinations for a Classic Snowy Christmas | All For Xmas

Traveling for Christmas is a tradition that many families love, especially if they can find a destination that brings plenty of snowy adventures. After all, lots of snow completes the picture-perfect Christmas ambiance and makes everything seem much more magical.

The Best Destinations for a Classic Snowy Christmas

Grafton, Vermont

If you're looking for a place that looks like a snowy Christmas card Grafton is for you. Thanks to the Windham Foundation the whole historic center was restored and revived and because this is Vermont you could also visit Grafton Village Cheese and taste the Vermont famous Cheddar.

Banff Springs, Canada

While this entire area is perfect for a Christmas celebration, you might want to consider spending time at the Fairmont Banff Springs Resort. Santa has his own suite there and you can visit to see the toy workshop, listen to Santa reading a story, decorate a stocking, and even finalize your Christmas list. Celebrating Christmas Eve is as easy as attending the Christmas Eve tea and don’t forget to check out the Santa brunch that is held throughout the season.

Lake Placid, NY

Lake Placid has long been known as a winter resort and there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy when you are there. All along Main Street, you will find bonfires, ice carvings, music, and more. Skiing is quite popular in the area and Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole is not too far away, so you can easily visit for a day to see Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well as the reindeer.

Bryce Canyon, UT

Bryce Canyon National Park is massive and while it is spectacular at any time of the year, Christmas is the time that this city turns into a winter wonderland filled with decorations. You can cross country ski at any time, but you may want to carve out a little time for ice skating and sleigh rides.

Tahoe City, CA

Snow is practically a given in Tahoe City during the holidays, so grab your skis and zip down the slopes at any of the twelve ski resorts. It is recommended that you wander around, because you never know where you will see Santa, a few carolers, a twenty-five-foot singing Christmas tree, ice sculptures, and more. There is even a Winter Stargazing Snowshoe Tour where you might just capture a glimpse of Santa flying through the sky.

Leavenworth, WA

Does a Bavarian looking snowy town sounds like a good Christmas destination to you? If yes, then you'd also like to know that they hold a huge Christmas Lighting Festival with many concerts and warm cider tastings.

Aspen, CO

There will always be snow in Aspen for Christmas, so you never need to worry about that small detail when planning your holiday away from home. In addition to skiing, you can spend your days ice skating, visiting with Santa, and making s’mores and hot cocoa. The highlight of the holidays though is the torchlight parade that goes down the slopes of the mountains.

Christmas, MI

We couldn't leave out this lovely Michigan Upper Peninsula town that holds a name like this. If you're looking for a guaranteed snowy Christmas then this is the place for you. The small town is charming especially during winter and don't miss your photo opportunity with the giant Santa Claus in town!

North Pole, AK

For the same reason we couldn't leave out Christmas, MI, this Alaskan town has to be in the list and it has every right to be in it! First you get the snow and then each December the town holds an international ice sculpting festival that attracts many visitors. With other attractions like the Santa Claus house, impressive decorations and fireworks displays it can't get any better for Christmas lovers.

These are a few of the best destinations to celebrate a classic snowy Christmas, but there are many more around the world. Choose one for this year and then see where the future will take you during the holiday season!
